Brushwood Cottage
We love dogs!
Dorset Dogs
Brushwood Cottage is a dog friendly home and we are looking forward to hosting you and your canine.
This is our Sealyham Terrier Dotty taking advantage of the shade while exploring the ruins of Corfe Castle. Many of the National Trust's properties allow dogs, but you can check on their website.
For a great guide to all things doggy in the area, from friendly pubs to a map of all the dog poo bins, click below to look at their website.
Enclosed Garden
Although the garden is enclosed, the most determined or the very smallest might find a way to escape. There is a clearance gap under the gate at the end of the garden to allow ease of opening and have recently heard of a very small dog who manged to squeeze out through that.

Dogs on the Beach
There are plenty of dog friendly venues and beaches nearby. Studland Beach welcomes dogs on leads all year round. Swanage doesn’t, but as it is a promenade beach, you can walk your dog along the pavement to the small, dog friendly beach by the old pier. A map of beaches can be found by clicking this link https://www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/countryside-coast-parks/dog-walking-in-dorset/walking-dogs-on-beaches.aspx
In this picture Dotty is escaping the crowds by paddling in Chapmans Pool.
Livestock
There are usually livestock in the field at the end of the garden, so you need to keep your dog on a lead around them.
The Dog Wash
No dogs allowed
The most notable places that do not allow dogs are Brownsea Island and Monkey World. If you plan to visit somewhere that does not take dogs, please don't leave your dog alone in the cottage.
There are various doggy daycare services nearby that might be able to help:
